Matthew 19:13–15
Then some children were brought to Him so that He might lay His hands on them and pray; and the disciples rebuked them. But Jesus said, ‘Leave the children alone, and do not forbid them to come to Me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.’ After laying His hands on them, He departed from there.”

When Jesus walked the earth, children were not an interruption to His ministry. They were welcomed, valued, and brought near. While others tried to turn them away, Jesus made it clear that children have a place in the kingdom of God. His words remind us that faith is not something that begins later in life. It begins now. His Kids exists to help children come to Jesus, grow in Him, and build their lives on the truth of God’s Word.   We believe children are not just the church of tomorrow. They are the church of today, actively learning to follow Christ and live out their faith right now. At the same time, they are also the leaders of tomorrow, and the spiritual foundations laid in these early years will shape the direction of their lives for years to come. Because of this, our goal is not simply to keep children occupied while their parents attend church. We believe children are capable of knowing God, understanding Scripture, and developing a genuine faith of their own. Everything we do is designed to introduce them to the gospel and help them grow in their relationship with Christ. Each week children experience an environment that is both welcoming and intentional. Through worship, Bible teaching, and engaging activities, we present the truth of Scripture in ways that children can understand and apply. Our desire is to help them see that following Jesus is not something that begins when they are older. It is a life that begins now.  At His Kids, we place a strong emphasis on building spiritual foundations. Just as Jesus taught that the wise man builds his house upon the rock, we seek to help children build their lives on the unchanging truth of God’s Word. By teaching Scripture clearly and consistently, we aim to help children develop a faith that will endure and grow as they mature. We also believe the church and the family work together in this calling. Our prayer is that every child who comes through His Kids will come to know Jesus, love His Word, and grow into a lifelong follower of Christ. Making disciplined disciples out of our kids and their families.

Foundations

His Kids Foundations takes place each Sunday and focuses on helping children build their lives on the unshakable truth of God’s Word. Just as a house must be built on a strong and steady foundation, we believe a child’s life must be grounded in Scripture from an early age.

During Foundations, children participate in worship, clear Bible teaching, and engaging activities designed to help them understand and apply God’s Word. Our goal is not simply to tell Bible stories, but to help children see the bigger story of Scripture and understand who God is, what He has done through Jesus Christ, and what it means to follow Him.

These early years are incredibly important. The truths children learn now will shape how they think about God, the church, and their faith for the rest of their lives. Because of this, our teaching is intentional, biblical, and centered on helping children develop a genuine relationship with Christ.
Through His Kids Foundations, we seek to help every child begin building a faith that is strong, lasting, and firmly rooted in God’s truth.

Doors open and check in begins at 10 A.M. with services beginning at 10:30 A.M.

Recharge

His Kids Recharge takes place on Wednesday nights with doors opening at 5:45 P.M. Recharge provides a midweek opportunity for children to gather together in community, build friendships, and grow in their faith. While Sundays focus on laying strong biblical foundations, Recharge emphasizes fellowship, encouragement, and learning to live out our faith together.

Through games, activities, and interactive moments, children experience the joy of being part of the church community. These times of fun and connection help create meaningful relationships and allow kids to see that following Christ is not something we do alone, but something we experience together as the body of Christ.

Each evening is grounded in a study of God’s Word, helping children continue to grow in their understanding of Scripture and how it applies to their everyday lives. Our desire is that Recharge becomes a place where kids are encouraged, strengthened, and reminded that their faith is meant to be lived out in community.

Through His Kids Recharge, children are given space to connect, grow, and be refreshed in the middle of the week.

Refill. Refocus. Renew.

Meet Your Kids Pastors

Steven and MaKenzie Hackworth have the joy of serving and shepherding the children of our church family through the ministry of His Kids. Both were born and raised right here in West Plains, Missouri, and they carry a deep love for their community and a passion for seeing the next generation come to know Christ.
They are blessed with three children—Nolan, Teller, and Lynnie—along with their furry golden kid, Marshall.

As a family, they love simply being together, whether that means enjoying time outdoors, sharing activities as a family, or spending quiet moments at home.

Steven and MaKenzie have a deep-rooted love for teaching the gospel and raising children upon its foundation. Their heart for His Kids is to help children understand that they are not just the church of tomorrow, but the body of Christ today.

Their desire is to see children discover who they are in Christ, build their lives upon His truth, and grow into a faith that will remain with them for the rest of their lives.

They believe that when children are grounded in God’s Word and led by the Holy Spirit, they can grow into leaders who walk the narrow road, trust the guidance of Scripture, and live lives shaped by truth. Their prayer is that every child who comes through His Kids will grow into a disciplined disciple of Christ, learning not only to follow Jesus but to help others follow Him as well.

Steven and MaKenzie believe that a healthy church is never more evident than in a healthy children’s and youth ministry, and they are passionate about helping families build strong spiritual foundations in their homes.
