Baptism Class and Ceremony Sign-Up
Water Baptism at His Place requires attending a brief class on what water baptism is and what the ceremony entails. This ensures that every candidate for baptism has hear and understood the Gospel and how water baptism relates to the Christian life.
Deadline for Signup (in a current month) - Second Sunday. This means after the second Sunday of the current month, any sign-ups, starting the second Monday following the second Sunday will be pushed to the following month's roster. This will give Pastors Steven and Taylor ample time to reach out to anyone who has signed up in the last two weeks of the previous month and the first two weeks of the current month to schedule them to attend the baptismal class and answer any questions they may have.
Baptism Class Schedule (in a current month) - Third Sunday Evening. Pastors Taylor and Steven are getting ready to work together with other leaders to help facilitate our Go & Grow Kingdom Life Groups (life/discipleship groups) on Sunday evenings at 6PM. In tandem with this they will be meeting on the third Sunday evening of each month with baptism candidates to let go over the basics of The Faith and what Baptism Sunday will consist of. In addition, this will be used as an opportunity to get baptism candidates plugged in at His Place.
Baptism Sunday (in a current month) - Last Sunday of the month morning service. Assuming there are only four Sundays in a given month, and no conflicts with major holidays, the general template or format will be to always designate that those who attended the previous baptismal class will be the candidates for the subsequent Sunday baptism service. If there are major holidays that conflict, we may consider postponing (e.g. Christmas, New Years Eve, etc). If there are five Sundays in a month, we will keep the format the same and the 5th Sunday fall as a normal Sunday service.
Events of Baptism Sunday (in a current month) - The following is a summary of the events that can be expected to be part of the baptismal service:
1. Candidates are dismissed in preparation during worship
2. Prior to beginning baptisms, the entire congregation along with those being baptized will stand together and be led in a recitation of the His Place version of the Apostolic Creed (confession of faith) by Senior Pastor Greg Worley.
3. Pastor Greg will announce that at the conclusion of the service, all those baptized will come to the front and be prayed over by pastors, board and any other designees by Pastor Greg. At the conclusion of the sermon, Pastor Greg will initiate the final baptismal prayer ceremony and ask the congregation to participate by extended their hands towards those who were baptized and to join in prayer for them.
Logistics/Information - If anyone has any questions concerning the format or process, you can feel free to contact either Pastor Steven Hackworth or Pastor Taylor Hall at the information provided below. You may also ask at our information desk about any questions you may have or to sign up for baptism class and the following ceremony.
